Shactaw

Meet Shactaw.
We found this little guy on the way home from taking MK to her first day of school. He was in the middle of the road and, in our opinion, was looking at a tragic end to life without our help. So, we scooped him up - with the intention of leaving him safely on the side of the road - and before I knew it, both boys were out of the van, turtle in hand, running home and discussing what to feed him and where to keep him. In a mere split second, our goal to merely save the turtle turned into a "lets keep the turtle and build him a nice little home." I think this decision was made when I was reminiscing about my pet turtle that I once had as a child. The boys decided on a name - he was named after the two tribes that the boys will participate in next year at camp - they found him a home, added some grass, fed him some apples and the rest is, well, history.....
until yesterday. Yesterday we convinced the guys that it was really not a good thing to keep Shactaw, he needed to be in his own element. So with the turtle in hand,......
and the much desired GERM-X in tow.....
we headed out on a little walk through the neighborhood to one our favorite little hangouts - the pond.
We were so proud of Pryce. This kiddo has the heart of gold. Tender. And he hates saying goodbye.
The kiddos wanted one last photo with our turtle treasure.....
and within minutes of putting the little guy down, he was gone.

In Maddox news.....she is doing magnificent! We all just continue to love her to pieces and can't believe that it has almost been SIX months of forever with her.

MK is a true girl from the inside out. She is full of laughter and smiles. She is all things shiny and pink - the shinier and pinker the better. She is a talkative little one. A thinker. She is sensitive. She is caring. She LOVES shoes. And, sigh, she has the attitude. It is innate. No other way to put it. Over the weekend we spotted her rolling her eyes when she was asked to do something that was not on her radar. When we asked her to not roll her eyes, she responded, "Oh, I wasn't. I was just looking up." Ah, yes, and in true girl fashion, she has an answer for everything.
